Nets owner Mikhail Prokhorov: ‘We had an excellent offseason’

Prokhorov is getting ready for maybe his worst season as Nets owner.

Mikhail Prokhorov once promised that he'd get married if the Nets didn't win a championship within his first five years of owning the team. Now, as we enter year six, neither the Nets nor their owner has a ring. Disappointment all around.

Except Prokhorov isn't all too disappointed with the direction in which his team is heading. He said as much during an interview conducted with NetsDaily. Here was his exact quote, as transcribed by Mike Mazzeo of ESPN:

Prokhorov has been one to endorse general manager Billy King time and time again. King has remained the GM of the Nets since 2010 amidst some franchise paralyzing trades, including ones for Joe Johnson, Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett.

“I am very glad to be working with Billy, and he has managed to pull off a lot of unexpected deals in the line with the guidelines ownership has given him,” he said. “I think we had an excellent offseason this year, and I do believe it will bring success this season.”
