Powell is starting Monday against the Bulls, Eric Smith of Sportsnet 590 The Fan reports.
Powell will join the starting lineup for Monday's game in Chicago in place of Fred VanVleet, who is sidelined with a knee injury. In 11 starts this season, Powell is averaging 15.8 points, 3.8 rebounds and 1.9 assists in 30.9 minutes.
Powell tallied 14 points (4-8 FG, 0-2 3Pt, 6-8 FT), two rebounds, two steals and one assist in 25 minutes during Thursday's 119-109 loss to the Rockets.
Powell finally came back down to earth, though he did reach double figures in scoring yet again while swiping a pair of steals. It will likely be difficult for Powell to maintain solid value in standard leagues now that Kyle Lowry (thumb) is back, but the 26-year-old wing is playing some of the best ball of his career as of late.
Powell provided 23 points (8-14 FG, 4-8 3Pt, 3-4 FT), eight rebounds, one assist and one steal in 34 minutes during Tuesday's 121-110 overtime loss to the Heat.
Powell paced the squad in scoring while earning the fourth-most minutes on the team despite returning to a reserve role with Kyle Lowry (thumb) back following an 11-game absence. Powell has scored at least 20 points in four of the last nine games and reached double figures in 11 of the last 13. It's possible he won't be able to keep this up going forward now that Lowry is healthy, but Powell is making a strong case that he deserves to continue seeing ample minutes.
Powell will come off the bench for Tuesday's tilt against the Raptors, Eric Smith of Sportsnet 590 The Fan reports.
Kyle Lowry will make his return at point guard Tuesday, which will in turn move Fred VanVleet down to shooting guard and knock Powell back to the bench. The 26-year-old wing averaged 15.8 points, 3.8 rebounds, 0.9 steals, and 2.2 triples across 31.0 minutes in 11 starts during Lowry's absence, but will presumably be in line for a slightly decreased workload going forward.
Powell tallied 15 points (6-12 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 1-1 FT), five rebounds, four steals and three assists in 33 minutes during Sunday's 130-120 victory over Utah.
Powell continued his impressive run, notching another 15 points to go with four steals. He has been a top-50 player over the past two weeks, however, seems destined for a bench role once Kyle Lowry (thumb) returns. While Powell is likely to lose a sizeable chunk of value, he has certainly played well enough to remain a central piece in the Raptors nightly rotation.
