Turner logged nine points (4-9 FG, 1-4 3Pt, 0-1 FT), seven rebounds and four blocks in 25 minutes during the Pacers' 112-87 win over the Suns on Wednesday night.
Turner has failed to reach double-digit scoring in four of his previous five games. The lack of points was partially mitigated by a strong defensive performance. Regardless, Turner has noticeable drops in his rebounding, block and three-point shooting averages compared to last season. His role in the offense is unlikely to increase during a banner campaign from Domantas Sabonis. Owners may want to look to sell on the next upswing.
Turner submitted 12 points (5-10 FG, 1-5 3Pt, 1-2 FT), six steals and five rebounds in 27 minutes during Monday's 118-88 loss to the Jazz.
Turner is no stranger to racking up defensive stats, but it's usually in the blocks category rather than in steals. Surprisingly, his six thefts were the most of any player during the NBA's 14-game Martin Luther King Jr. slate. That output represents about a month's worth of production for Turner, who had six steals over his last 14 games combined.
Turner managed three points (1-5 FG, 1-2 3Pt), two rebounds, one assist and one steal in 20 minutes during Sunday's 115-107 win over the Nuggets.
Turner finished with as many turnovers (three) as points while fouling out in just 20 minutes of action. He's among the best defensive big men in basketball, capable of covering guards along the perimeter and protecting the rim. Nevertheless, Turner still has a tendency to bite on pump fakes as well as be overly aggressive with his hands at times. With that being said, he was averaging a career-low 2.5 fouls per game prior to this one. He'll look to bounce back during Monday's matchup versus the Jazz.
Turner totaled eight points (1-3 FG, 0-2 3Pt, 6-8 FT), six rebounds, three blocks, one assist and one steal in 25 minutes during Friday's 116-114 win over the Timberwolves.
Turner failed to capitalize on the fact that Domantas Sabonis was in foul trouble (five in 26 minutes), and the 23-year-old big man had a quiet night beyond the blocks. Turner has been limited to single digits in scoring in three of the last five games, and he's primarily a spot-up shooter who hangs out along the perimeter offensively for most of the time he shares the floor with Sabonis.
Turner had 27 points (10-18 FG, 1-4 3PT, 6-6 FT), 14 rebounds, three assists, two blocks and one steal in 33 minutes during Friday's 116-105 win at the Bulls.
Turner took advantage of Domantas Sabonis' absence due to injury, and the fifth-year big man posted season-high marks for points and rebounds while tying his season-best output for assists here. His value should experience an uptick while Sabonis remains sidelined, and he will attempt to build on this performance when the Pacers host the 76ers on Monday.
