Los Angeles Lakers Player News: Last 7 days, All Positions

News: James totaled 19 points (9-17 FG, 1-8 3Pt, 0-1 FT), eight rebounds, four assists and two blocks across 28 minutes in Team LeBron's win over Team Giannis in the 2019 NBA All-Star Game.
Impact: He took flight in his 15th All-Star appearance, slamming home some of his trademark dunks in a come-from-behind win. In what has been a drama-filled season, James will head out of the All-Star break looking to lead his team to a top-eight seed and avoid missing the playoffs for the first time since 2005.
News: Kuzma finished with 35 points (15-27 FG, 3-10 3Pt, 2-2 FT), six rebounds, two assists, and one block in 22 minutes during Friday's 161-144 victory in the Rising Stars Challenge.
Impact: Kuzma appeared intent on taking home the MVP award Friday, looking to score at every opportunity in the Team USA victory. There were multiple contenders for the award but ultimately it went to Kuzma who led all scorers on the night. Kuzma has been having a solid season for the Lakers, however, can be a one-dimensional player at times. The Lakers are going to pushing hard for a playoff spot and Kuzma should continue to be a primary focus on the offensive end moving forward.
News: Ball has resumed running on an anti-gravity treadmill but has yet to progress to any on-court work since spraining his left ankle Jan. 19 in Houston, Bill Oram of The Athletic reports.
Impact: At the time he suffered the injury, Ball was projected to require 4-to-6 weeks to recover. The short end of that timetable has now arrived, but Ball's limited progress to date suggests six weeks -- if not longer -- may now be a more realistic target date for the point guard's return. Expect the team to provide another update on Ball's condition when the Lakers reconvene after the All-Star break. Rajon Rondo had assumed most of the responsibilities of initiating the offense when Ball was first sidelined, but the veteran has since slipped to a lower-minute backup role over the past two games while Brandon Ingram has stepped in as the new starting point guard.
News: Rondo totaled 13 points (5-10 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 1-3 FT), seven rebounds, four assists, one steal and one block over 34 minutes in the Lakers' loss to the Hawks on Tuesday.
Impact: Rondo came off the bench for the second straight game, filling up the stat sheet in Tuesday's loss. Although he didn't start, Rondo got starter's minutes and was able to find success scoring, rebounding and distributing. His value won't suffer for the time being, but his minutes are sure to be reduced when Lonzo Ball (ankle) and Josh Hart (knee) return to action.
News: Bullock totaled 15 points (6-11 FG, 3-6 3Pt), five rebounds, two steals, one assist and a block over 35 minutes in the Lakers' loss to the Hawks on Tuesday.
Impact: Bullock recovered nicely from a poor performance in Sunday's debut for the Lakers, finishing with a well-rounded stat line and canning three three-pointers. It was an encouraging performance for Bullock, but games like this are probably pretty close to his ceiling on his new team that already features some great scoring options.
News: Kuzma registered 19 points (8-20 FG, 3-9 3Pt), five rebounds, one assist and one block over 35 minutes in the Lakers' loss to the Hawks on Tuesday.
Impact: Kuzma has been on a scoring tear as of late, averaging 27.7 points per game over his last three outings. That uptick in scoring has coincided with Kuzma catching fire from downtown, and he's drained 13 threes in that span on 52.0% shooting from beyond the arc.
News: James poured in 28 points (8-20 FG, 3-10 3Pt, 9-11 FT), 16 assists, 11 rebounds, three steals and a block over 43 minutes in the Lakers' loss to the Hawks on Tuesday.
Impact: James produced his second triple-double in his last three games, though the Lakers still lost their second game in a row. In the wake of recent trade talks with the Pelicans, the Lakers seem to be in turmoil, but that hasn't stopped James from averaging 24.7 points, 12.3 assists, 11.0 rebounds and 2.0 steals over his last three games. He looks to be fully recovered from a groin injury that forced him to miss 18 games and is a threat for huge games like this on any given night.
News: James (groin) is available and starting at power forward for Tuesday's tilt against the Hawks.
Impact: No surprise here, as James was considered probable heading into the evening. It was his third consecutive game with that listing, so it looks like the Lakers are just erring on the side of caution with the designation. Barring any setbacks, look for him to take on his usual workload.
News: Muscala (ankle) will play Tuesday against the Hawks, Kyle Goon of The Orange County Register reports.
Impact: A sprained right ankle won't keep Muscala from playing during the Lakers' final game before the All-Star break. With Tyson Chandler (toe) out, Muscala could see some extra run.
News: Chandler (toe) is out for Tuesday's matchup against the Hawks, Kyle Goon of The Orange County Register reports.
Impact: A sprained toe will keep the veteran out for Tuesday's game. In his absence, JaVale McGee and Mike Muscala (ankle), who is questionable, could see extra run.
News: Chandler is listed as questionable for Tuesday's game against the Hawks due to a sprained toe, Kyle Goon of The Orange County Register reports.
Impact: Chandler did not participate in shootaround, and given that it's the Lakers' final game before the All-Star break, the veteran center getting the night off certainly isn't out of the question. With Mike Muscala questionable himself with a sprained right ankle, the Lakers could be down two centers Tuesday night, leaving the door open for rookie Mo Wagner to potentially see an extended role off the bench.
News: Muscala is listed as questionable for Tuesday's game against the Hawks with a sprained right ankle, Kyle Goon of The Orange County Register reports.
Impact: Muscala apparently suffered the ankle sprain in Sunday's loss to the 76ers, where he scored eight points in 13 minutes. With Tyson Chandler also questionable with a sprained toe, the Lakers could potentially be light on frontcourt depth Tuesday, which would likely result in Mo Wagner seeing additional time off the bench in relief of starter JaVale McGee.
News: James (groin) is listed as probable for Tuesday's game against the Hawks.
Impact: For the third straight game, James is listed on the injury report with a "load management" designation. The veteran ended up playing north of 30 minutes in each of the past two contests -- averaging 23.0 points, 11.0 rebounds, 10.5 assists and 1.5 steals in 35.5 minutes -- and figures to do the same Tuesday, barring any unforeseen circumstances.
News: Hart received a PRP injection Monday and has been ruled out for Tuesday's game against the Hawks.
Impact: Hart has been dealing with patella tendinitis in his right knee for a few weeks now, so the Lakers opted to play it safe and shut him down with just one game to go before the All-Star break. The second-year guard out of Villanova will be re-evaluated after the break, at which point a more concrete timetable for his return will hopefully emerge.
