Courtney Lee scored eight points Wednesday on 4-of-12 shooting as the New York Knicks lost to the Washington Wizards 118-113. Lee grabbed three rebounds and had three assists, tallying a plus-minus of +1 in his 33:44 on the floor. Lee struggled from 3-point range, missing all five of his attempts.
Lee will return to the starting lineup for Wednesday's tilt with the Wizards, Chris Miller of NBC Sports Washington reports.
Lee was pushed to the bench in favor of Lance Thomas on Monday against the 76ers, which was an attempt to have a bigger body to matchup up with opposing guard Ben Simmons. However, after that one-game experiment, Lee is set to reclaim his starting role and should continue to see minutes in the upper-20s or low-30s.
Lee supplied 18 points (4-8 FG, 3-4 3Pt, 7-7 FT), two rebounds, one assist, and one steal in 30 minutes during Monday's 108-92 loss to the 76ers.
Lee came off the bench but still saw the fourth-most minutes on the team (behind Michael Beasley, Tim Hardaway Jr., and Enes Kanter). Lee's seven free throws matched a season high, so it's clear that he's looking to be aggressive offensively in the aftermath of Kristaps Porzingis (ACL) being lost for the rest of the season.
Courtney Lee scored 18 points Monday on 4-of-8 shooting as the New York Knicks lost to the Philadelphia 76ers 108-92. Lee pulled down two rebounds and added an assist, tallying a plus-minus of -11 in his 30:02 on the floor. He tacked on one steal. Lee went 3 of 4 from 3-point range.
Lee will shift to a bench role for Monday's game against the 76ers, Al Iannazzone of Newsday Sports reports.
Lee has started all 57 games he's played this season, so this will mark his first stint off the bench. The move is reportedly an effort by the Knicks to get a bigger body to matchup with Ben Simmons, which has prompted coach Jeff Hornacek to start Lance Thomas instead. With the demotion, Lee could see a slightly decreased workload, though he should be a primary source of offense with the second unit.
