Byron finished second in the Coke Zero Sugar 400 at Daytona International Speedway Sunday afternoon.

    Impact

Byron turned in one of his best performances of the season Sunday at Daytona. He would work well with his Chevrolet teammates, and push up to the front during stage 2. From that point on he was instrumental in pushing both Austin Dillon and Chase Elliott to several laps led. Byron would avoid the "big one" and other crashes to stay among the leaders, and collect the runner-up finish after the race was called due to weather. It was his first-career Top-5 finish.

    News

Hendrick Motorsports driver Byron made a tremendous save during the final practice Thursday at Daytona International Speedway, keeping his car (mostly) straight after contact from the No. 2 of Brad Keselowski - contact both drivers ceded was intentional, NASCAR.com reports.

    Impact

Keselowski did not lift when Byron made a late block during this practice session. The contact from the No. 2 Ford sent Byron's machine fish-tailing down onto the apron, but Byron saved it from further damage. The two had a run-in at Daytona last July and Keselowski has not forgotten Byron's block that sent him into the wall and out of the race. Bad blood between these two hopefully won't boil over into Saturday night's Coke Zero 400.
