Winner’s Weekend: Kevin Harvick – ISM Raceway

Video Details

Kevin Harvick and crew chief Rodney Childers recap the strategy that brought them to victory lane in the Ticket Guardian 500, their third consecutive victory.

VOICEOVER: From the Valley of the Sun, Phoenix, Arizona. So how about Kevin Harvick? After winning in Vegas, Nascar's midweek tear down found fault with the rear window support and rocker panel. Lost of playoff points.

KEVIN HARVICK: The team was pissed all weekend. It felt like a playoff race, to tell you the truth. There was so much controversy and so much talk during the week.

RODNEY CHILDERS: All the road guys stepped up. You could tell that everybody really wanted it this weekend.

- This is a statement, not only to the naysayers, but to competitors.

It might just be a Kevin Harvick kind of day.

- As you look at the race in general, I think you just have to put yourself in a position to have a shot at the end. Car was a little bit off at the beginning. I had to keep tightening up the whole day. I'm not the crew chief, I just do what I'm told and came down to put four tires on.

- You ready? Go hard. Go hard. Go hard. All the way now.

- It's hard to look away from this battle for the lead. Hamlin. Harvick. Kyle Busch and Chase Elliot.

- You know, it's been a long time since we've had that many cars racing for the lead and going back and forth. And, you know, I think, for me, I never really had a clear chance to slide up in front of 11. But myself and the 11, 9, 8 team were able to race really good there and it was a lot of fun.

- To sit down and turn on today and watch all those guys battle it out all day is what I like to see no matter who wins.

- The 18 is closing fast, so Harvey knows right now, I have got to get by this 9.

- There was definitely a relief of getting by the 9 and get in the lead. I just didn't know if we were going to be able to hold off the 18. I felt like they had a better car than us there for a little while.

- The most important thing was we had to track position. I knew I needed to get by the 9 quick as the 18 had that good center portion of the run speed that was a little bit better than us. And then at the end of the run with it would kind of level off. He made up a lot of ground when I was racing with Chase and we were able to maintain that gap at the end.

- Off turn four. Happy Harvick. Three-peats. Three in a row, wow. Back to back to back.

- Woo! Hold up there, boys. That's how you rebound and just show them how it is right there. History making right there. You're the man.

- It's not about a rear window or what the side grips made of, it's a lot of-- it's about a lot of great people that work on really fast race cars and there's no better statement than to win the race.
