VIDEO: McMurray, Cassill lose control in first Fontana practice
About 35 minutes into NASCAR Sprint Cup practice, Jamie McMurray blew a right-rear tire and spun the No. 1 Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates Chevrolet coming out of the exit of Turn 4, bringing out a caution flag.
Although McMurray kept his car off the wall, he dug up a tremendous amount of turf when he slid through the infield.
"We definitely had a flat," said McMurray. "I don’t know if we cut a tire or it just went flat."
Ten minutes later, Landon Cassill’s car shot violently toward the Turn 4 wall, after something broke or blew on the right front of his Mike Hillman-owned Chevrolet.
