Practice results: Martin Truex Jr. leads opening session at Texas

Martin Truex Jr. paced the first practice at Texas Motor Speedway in his No. 78 Chevy.

The strong start to the 2015 season continued for Furniture Row Racing and Martin Truex Jr. on Friday as the driver of the No. 78 Chevrolet topped the speed charts in opening Sprint Cup practice at Texas Motor Speedway.

Truex posted the fastest lap of the session on his first lap with a speed of 191.096 mph. The driver and team spent most of the practice session in race trim, but caught a fast lap on one of their few qualifying runs.

Hendrick Motorsports’ Kasey Kahne was second quickest, followed by Kevin Harvick, Casey Mears, David Ragan, Jamie McMurray, Carl Edwards, Austin Dillon, Kurt Busch and Brad Keselowski.

Kahne also had the best 10 consecutive lap average, followed by Hendrick teammate Jimmie Johnson, McMurray, Dillon and Dale Earnhardt Jr.

The Sprint Cup Series has one final practice session slated for Friday afternoon, followed by qualifying at 6:30 p.m. ET on FOX Sports 1.
