Team Penske extends Joey Logano's contract to '2022 and beyond'

In a significant move, Team Penske has signed contract extensions with sponsor Shell-Pennzoil, driver Joey Logano and his crew chief, Todd Gordon. The extensions run to “2022 and beyond” said team owner Roger Penske.

The “2022 and beyond” will be a marketing slogan for the team, given that Logano drives the No. 22 Team Penske Ford Fusion, with Shell-Pennzoil as his primary sponsor for more than 30 races a year.

Penske's vast business empire includes a fleet of more than 244,000 trucks, all of which use Shell-Pennzoil fuels and lubricants, and the oil company and the race team have a significant business-to-business relationship.

This is also the final year of Brad Keselowski’s contract with Team Penske, and the owner said they are actively working on an extension for him as well.

This is the second big sponsor-driver announcement in the last two days at Daytona, the first coming Thursday, when Joe Gibbs Racing announced it had signed new deals with FedEx and Denny Hamlin.
