Update: Start of AAA Texas 500 moved to ‘around’ 7:30 p.m. ET

As of 5 p.m. ET, it looks as if the AAA Texas 500 at Texas Motor Speedway will get started sometime around 7:30 p.m. ET.

That’s per NASCAR’s estimate of how long track drying will take.

The track is being dried right how after several hours of rain that  began during the National Anthem in pre-race at Texas.

This is a crucial race, as it’s the second of three in the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Round of 8. After next weekend’s race at Phoenix International Raceway, four of the eight racers still in title contention now will be eliminated.

Weather.com is still calling for a 35 percent chance of rain at 8 p.m. ET, increasing to 60 percent at 9 p.m. and 70 percent by 10 p.m.

With Martinsville winner Jimmie Johnson locked into the championship round of the Chase two weeks from now at Homestead-Miami Speedway, seven drivers are left fighting for the final three Chase spots in the finale.
