This week in Charlotte is the annual NASCAR Sprint Media Tour and the NASCAR Hall of Fame festivities. For you casual fans, this is the time of year when the NASCAR media all come together visiting the various race shops and talking with owners, drivers and the teams.

Right now is the best time for every single race team. Everyone is optimistic. Everyone feels they are bulletproof. The future is bright and every single team feels like this is the year they are going to do it all.

They all feel they are on equal ground. The No. 48 winning his sixth championship is old news. That was last year, and everyone’s focus is on 2014. Everyone believes they are going to go win the Daytona 500 next month, make the Chase and win the championship.

Everyone is also really looking forward to the NASCAR announcement tomorrow. NASCAR is going to address and reveal their plans for what is anticipated to be a revision of the Chase format.

I think that is going to be the biggest thing we learn this week during the media tour. I think we all know we’re going to see a change in the Chase format, but until NASCAR makes it official, then, it’s purely just speculation.
