Earnhardt to run Charlotte Nationwide race
Jeffrey Earnhardt will move into the NASCAR Nationwide Series next week at Charlotte Motor Speedway.
He has been competing in the Camping World Truck Series with his Rick Ware Racing team, but the team has lost its sponsorship. Now, he’ll attempt to make the field for the May 28 Top Gear 300 at Charlotte.
“We had a lot of momentum in the Truck series and it was disappointing when the sponsor left but that happens in this business and you have to move on,” Earnhardt said in a news release. “I’m a competitor. Whether it’s racing on a track or pulling the team together to work with sponsors, failure is not an option.
“Rick and his team have been great and the upcoming Charlotte race is a new beginning.”
The team will be sponsored primarily by Pepsi Max and On the Run stores for the race.
“The past month has been extremely exciting at RWR with Jeffrey making the jump to the Nationwide Series,” team owner Ware said. “He will be joining the Sunoco Rookie of the Year point leader, Timmy Hill, and the future looks really bright for our organization.”
In two previous Nationwide Series starts, Earnhardt has a best finish of 24th.
