Kubica signs new 2-year deal with Renault F1

Renault says Formula One driver Robert Kubica has signed a

contract extension, committing him to the team until 2012.

The 25-year-old Pole is sixth in the 2010 championship standings

after nine races of his first season with Renault.

Team principal Eric Boullier said Wednesday that “there have

been many rumors surrounding his future in recent weeks, which were

a tribute to how well he has driven this year, and we are very

happy to have agreed a multiyear deal.”

Kubica joined Renault to replace Fernando Alonso after the end

of last season after having driven for BMW Sauber since 2006.
