Kasey Kahne hopes his Nationwide luck improves

Hi FOXSports.com! It’s Kasey Kahne taking over the Braun Racing blog this week.

I’ll be driving the No. 38 Great Clips Camry this weekend at Atlanta Motor Speedway. This season, I’ve been sharing the driving duties of the No. 38 with Jason Leffler and this weekend will be the seventh time I’ve been in the car.

I love being able to drive in the Nationwide Series. It’s always fun to get some more racing in! There is so much young talent in the series right now, and to be able to race with the young guys and the veterans at the same time always makes for an exciting day.

I really want to thank everyone at Braun Racing and Great Clips for giving me the opportunity to drive in the Nationwide Series this season. At the track, all the guys have been great and they all work really hard to give me fast cars. Stewart Cooper and I work really well together, so having him as crew chief has been a really good experience. We know each other well enough now that he knows exactly how I like to drive my race cars, and he does all he can to get the No. 38 as close to that as possible.

I got my start in the Nationwide Series with Great Clips as my sponsor, so it has been great to get back with them this year as a more experienced driver and bring them home some great finishes!

Great Clips is the longest running primary sponsor in the Nationwide Series, but this weekend is the first time they have ever served as title sponsor of an event. Even though I am not running for the driver championship and we go out every race digging for the win, we have had the Great Clips 300 circled on the calendar all year. It would be really special to get the No. 38 back in Victory Lane in Atlanta for the inaugural Great Clips 300.

We’ve had some very strong runs in the No. 38 this season, but we can’t seem to get luck on our side. Earlier in the season at Charlotte, we had an 11-second lead before two battery failures ended our day. Also, in Bristol we were caught up in another driver’s mess and I ended up going for a wild ride.

I am really confident in the cars that the Braun Racing team brings to the track and, if we can just get some luck back on our side, we can definitely get the Great Clips Camry in Victory Lane.

It should be a great race this weekend. Atlanta is one of the fastest tracks we go to, which makes the race very exciting for the fans. We are going to have lots of support here this weekend for the team with many people visiting from Great Clips headquarters in Minneapolis and over 23,000 loyal customers will be in the stands on Saturday night through the ‘Gimmie Gotta Getta’ ticket promotion.

I can’t wait to see all the Great Clips support in the stands and hopefully in Victory Lane! Make sure to tune into the Great Clips 300 on ESPN2 on Saturday night at 6:30 p.m. ET and keep an eye out for myself and all my Braun Racing teammates: Jason Leffler (No. 10), Reed Sorenson (No.32) and Brian Scott (No. 11).
