JR Motorsports announced Monday morning the team would make the transition into the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series during the 2015 season with Cole Custer behind the wheel.

The organization co-owned by Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Kelley Earnhardt Miller has competed in the NASCAR Xfinity Series in some capacity for the past 10 years, winning the 2014 series championship with driver Chase Elliott. This marks the first time the team will participate in the Camping World Truck Series.

Custer became the youngest driver to win in one of NASCAR’s top three divisions when he went to Victory Lane during the Sept. 20, 2014 Camping World Truck Series race at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.

The team plans on running 10 races during the 2015 season, with Custer piloting the No. 00 Chevrolet Silverado with sponsorship from Haas Automation Inc. Joe Shear Jr., who served as Custer’s crew chief in 2014, will call the shots for the new No. 00 JRM team.

"This is a new and exciting venture for us," said Earnhardt Miller. "We have come a long way since racing street stocks in 2002, and we are constantly evolving. Expanding into the truck series on a part-time basis is furthering our growth. Bringing in a talent like Cole and a great partner like Haas Automation is a great way to do that. I’m proud of the direction we’re heading."

Custer, who will turn 17 on Jan. 23, is looking to continue the success of JR Motorsports in the Camping World Truck Series.

"I’m so excited to get this season started," said Custer. With all that JR Motorsports has accomplished over the past few years, we know we have everything needed to go win races and compete. I couldn’t ask for a better opportunity with a better organization. I really want to thank Haas Automation, along with Kelley and Dale Jr. for putting this deal together."

The 10 NCWTS races in which Custer will compete include races at Martinsville Speedway, Dover International Speedway, Gateway Motorsports Park, Iowa Speedway, Eldora Speedway, Bristol Motor Speedway, Canadian Tire Motorsports Park, New Hampshire Motor Speedway, Martinsville Speedway, and Phoenix International Raceway.

JR Motorsports will also help Custer’s driver development by entering him into select NASCAR K&N Pro Series and ARCA Series races.
