Even though he missed the second half of the 2016 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series season with a concussion, Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s Twitter game has consistently been on point, insightful at times and hilarious at others.

Sunday night at Homestead-Miami Speedway, Earnhardt was both.

The third-generation driver was at Homestead to root on his Hendrick Motorsports teammate Jimmie Johnson, who in dramatic fashion won his record-tying seventh NASCAR Premier Series championship.

By taking the title, Johnson tied the record set by Richard Petty and first tied by the late Dale Earnhardt.

After the race, Earnhardt Jr. took to Twitter to say his dad would have approved.

And then, in a somewhat lighter moment, Junior perfectly captured the feeling of everyone in the NASCAR community who works so long and hard from mid-February to mid-November.
