After a mostly disappointing season so far, Austin Dillon is getting a new crew chief, as Justin Alexander will take over atop the pit box of the No. 3 Richard Childress Racing Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series team starting with Sunday night’s Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway (5:30 p.m. ET, FOX).

Alexander will replace longtime RCR crew chief Richard “Slugger” Labbe, who according to the team is “leaving the company to pursue other opportunities.”

After making NASCAR’s playoffs for the first time last year, Dillon is currently 22nd in the Cup points standings after 11 races. So far this season, Dillon’s only finish inside the top 10 was a fifth-place run at Martinsville Speedway. Dillon has not lead a race since the season-opening Daytona 500.

Alexander will move up from RCR’s No. 2 NASCAR XFINITY Series team. Randall Burnett, who until recently was AJ Allmendinger’s  crew chief at JTG Daugherty Racing, will replace Alexander on the RCR No.2 XFINITY team.
