This weekend marks the 40th anniversary of the late Dale Earnhardt’s first career top series NASCAR start, which came in the 1975 World 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway.
Many years later, Earnhardt explained how he felt being on the track for the first time with legends such as Richard Petty, who won the race that day while Earnhardt’s No. 8 car finished 45 laps down in 22nd place.
