Busch went for a spin when Brad Keselowski appeared to make contact with Busch's No. 18 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota coming out of Turn 1 on the very first lap. He returned to the race in 32nd and made a total of eight pit stops for repairs before the third and final stage, eventually working his way back up to a remarkable fifth-place finish.
Keselowski suffered only minor damage in the early brushup with Busch and ended up finishing fourth in the race after leading a race-high 54 laps.
William Byron, 19 years old and a rookie in the XFINITY Series, appeared to have the race won after two fantastic late restarts. But Hamlin passed him for the victory coming to the checkered flag on the final lap,
