Dale Earnhardt Jr. said on his weekly periscope social media post earlier in the week that he was going to spend a couple days with wife Amy's family before heading to Dover International Speedway for his next Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series race.
He just didn't say where.
Turns out he headed off to Roatán, Honduras, where he placed a monkey on his head, a parrot on his shoulder and had an absolutely awesome time. Check out how he documented it on social media:

Monkeying around
Not sure this is a good look, but both man and monkey actually appear to be comfortable with it.

Pre-retirement preparation?
It could be that Dale Jr. is headed for a Jimmy Buffet-type retirement after this, his final NASCAR Cup Series season. And who could blame him?

Bird man
Sometimes you just need a bird you can talk to -- and a couple who can talk back to you, too.

Family time
The point of the trip was to spend time with family. Mission accomplished.

Nice way to travel
It helps when you're going for a little two- or three-day getaway to Honduras if you can take the company plane there.

Sunset on down time
Unfortunately for Earnhardt and his wife, the sun set all too quickly on their little mini-vacation.

Programming change
Of course, the Internet isn't all it's cracked up to be when you're on a Honduras beach. Thus, this week's Dirty Mo Radio Dale Jr. podcast was posted a day late to the Earnhardt website. But it is available now by clicking here, so take note, Junior Nation.

Back to work
And for Earnhardt, it's time to get back to work to get ready for this weekend's festivities on the Monster Mile at Dover.
