COMMENTATOR 1: Here we go, the 250 West Championship, underway. And how about the whole shot. Give it to McElrath with Martin right there. Craig, Sexton, [INAUDIBLE] all in the lead group.

COMMENTATOR 2: Wow. That Troy Lee Designs Red Bull KTM riders one and two. So impressive.

COMMENTATOR 1: They were both good out of the gate--

COMMENTATOR 2: Whoa, crash.

COMMENTATOR 1: He races as well. Oh yes. And more riders continuing to pile in. Ramos is down on the ground. [INAUDIBLE] down as well.

COMMENTATOR 2: Then it's going to be Nicoletti. Right here, he goes down.

COMMENTATOR 1: And, oh man, he got piled into by Ramos. Watch this.

COMMENTATOR 2: Yeah, Ramos gets him right there. Looked like--

COMMENTATOR 1: Oh man.

COMMENTATOR 2: Oh, and then Ahlberg also. Cooper gets into him. Another look.

COMMENTATOR 1: That's a scary moment. But we're happy to report that Phil Nicoletti, the rider who gets it, right in here in that yellow helmet, was able to get up and walk away.

COMMENTATOR 2: McElrath on that KTM, is just so solid. Just fast, great starts.

COMMENTATOR 1: Well, and McElrath did this very same thing last year. Got the whole shot, led all 15 laps, and won the opening night. Looking to do it again here tonight.

COMMENTATOR 2: That's the type of Groundhog Day you can go for, right?

COMMENTATOR 1: Every year.

COMMENTATOR 2: The good one.

COMMENTATOR 1: Every year. It took 27 races before McElrath got his first win. It'll only be 10 starts between his first or his last, and his most recent, if he can hang on on this final lap here tonight.

COMMENTATOR 2: Flawless.

COMMENTATOR 1: Shane won three times in 2017-- the season opener, San Diego, and Salt Lake City.

COMMENTATOR 2: [INAUDIBLE] race here tonight? Got first pick, the main event, grabbed himself a whole shot. He's executed it perfectly.

Torley designs, and the gang from Red Bull, GoPro, KTM are going to be celebrating if he can make it through the next couple of turns.

COMMENTATOR 1: For Shane McElrath, this will be his fourth career victory. And the points lead in the 250 West Championship.

Here tonight at Anaheim, Shane McElrath wins a season-opening round of the 250 West season.

- Oh man, first, I just got to say, man, God is good.

We-- we worked really hard this offseason. We've really got everything out of it that we could. We learned from last year. And like you said, it's early in the season, but I mean it was A1, and I had more nerves this year than I did last year, but it just felt good to get out there and just put in laps.

This track was really technical and just demanding. I mean it's a simple layout, but it's tight. It's demanding. The [INAUDIBLE] were breaking down. And we've got a stacked class this year. So felt good to just get good starts tonight, and put in a good, solid race. I mean, these guys, they're going to put up a fight all year.

But we've done our homework, and we're ready to battle till Vegas and outdoors. But my mechanic, Jim, our suspension guy, Ryan, our engine guy. Just this bike is amazing, and Troy Lee Designs, GoPro, Reb Bull, KTM, I mean, Nature's Bakery, we all worked so hard. And I know everybody likes to be at A1, and this is where all the pressure is, but man, it just feels good.
