Marc Marquez confirms backflip video is a fake

If you’re the Repsol Honda MotoGP team, the last thing you want to see is your star rider – Marc Marquez – doing a backflip on a motocross bike.

Therefore, you can imagine that a few Repsol Honda officials’ hearts probably skipped a beat the first time they saw this:

Seemingly taken in one shot, this video certainly got some eyeballs when it was uploaded to the Marc Márquez YouTube channel on Monday.

However, many were quick to note that the bike Marquez starts on is a four stroke, whereas the one performing the backflip is a two stroke.

Indeed, Marquez took to Twitter on Tuesday to confirm that the video is a fake:

(Bing translation: “April fool! The backflip yesterday is not real, you would need many jumps with you @danytorres71 🙂 @redbullESP thanks)

The Dia de Los Santos Inocentes, translated to The Day of the Holy Innocents, is a winter version of April Fools Day that is celebrated on Dec. 28 – the day the video was uploaded.
