This 1938 Packard 1605 Super Eight Convertible Sedan had an eventful day on Sunday.

Participating in the 2016 Hilton Head Concours d’Elegance, this vintage car had just been awarded “Best in Class” in the American Classics 1925-1948 class.

Then, for a reason yet to be determined - although it is speculated that the owner forgot to put the parking brake on - the Packard rolled backward into a lagoon and went for a swim.

A professional diver and a tow-truck company had to be called to the scene. The vehicle was towed out.

While you have to feel sorry for the owner, at least there’s some consolation in knowing that the Packard at least waited until after the voting was over.
