Robby Gordon retired from Dakar Rally after taking out support vehicle

Robby Gordon was forced to retire from the 2016 Dakar Rally after taking out his support vehicle.

The 47-year-old former NASCAR driver was travelling down a highway at around 80 mph next to his support vehicle – a Hummer H2 with no safety harnesses or roll cage – collecting items from a member of his team when he veered right into it, as shown in a video on Actualidad’s YouTube channel.

Reports state that Gordon had finished the final stage of the rally and was heading to the podium when the incident occurred, forcing him to retire from the event. Additional reports state that two people suffered injuries, and that the crash is under investigation.
