Lewis Hamilton reveals fan-designed helmet for 2017

Lewis Hamilton has revealed the fan-designed helmet that he has selected to wear in 2017.

Back in January, the three-time Formula One World Champion announced that he was hosting a contest on Instagram for fans to design his helmet for the 2017 F1 season.

The winner would also be presented a full-sized signed replica helmet during a race weekend later this year.

On Wednesday, Hamilton revealed the winning helmet designed by Rai Caldato of Caldato Design from Brazil.

“Raí evolves my layout by adding new stripe elements on the sides,” explained Hamilton in his Instagram post. “As a tribute to my hero, Ayrton Senna the helmet features the colors of Brazil - green, yellow and blue. These are accompanied with the three stars that represent my Championship wins. There's yellow throughout that reminds me of my helmets in the past. The candy apple red balances with the yellow very well. Raí, I look forward to meeting you in person to present you with your prize!

“Thank you all for entering this competition, I'm taken back by your creativity.”
