James Hinchcliffe Is Perfect With Substitute Partner On ‘Dancing With The Stars’
James Hinchcliffe scored perfect despite not having his usual partner on Monday’s episode of ‘Dancing with the Stars,’ earning the IndyCar star immunity.
Halloween Night on ABC’s Dancing with the Stars was a treat for IndyCar driver James Hinchcliffe, who came out on top of his Season 23 competition despite not having partner Sharna Burgess on the dance floor.
Burgess suffered an injury that rendered the Australian unable to compete in Monday’s performance show. Previously eliminated pro dancer Jenna Johnson replaced her as Hinchcliffe’s partner and the duo did not miss a step.
Hinchcliffe and Johnson performed a Viennese waltz to Grace’s cover of Lesley Gore’s “You Don’t Own Me” featuring rapper G-Eazy. You can watch their routine below:
It was one of three performances to earn a perfect score of 30 from judges Carrie Ann Inaba, Julianne Hough and Bruno Tonioli. The other two went to Olympian Laurie Hernandez and NFL star Calvin Johnson Jr. for their waltz and Quickstep respectively.
However, with the tie immunity was awarded to the contestant with the highest cumulative score over the eight weeks of Season 23: Hinchcliffe. That means the Schmidt Peterson Motorsports driver is guaranteed to at least make the DWTS Top 6.
No word yet on whether or not Burgess will rejoin him for next week’s routine, but hopefully she will as the duo have quickly become the dark horses to possibly win the Mirrorball Trophy. They were also two points away from perfect during Latin Night in Week 6 and scored a quartet of 9/10 results during Week 7.
Olympian Ryan Lochte was the performer eliminated during Monday’s episode, after tying for the lowest score during last week’s Eras Night. If you missed the elimination, you can watch it here.
Dancing with the Stars airs Mondays at 8/7c on ABC.
