Indy 500 driver Mikhail Aleshin makes a great save during practice

Four cars crashed during practice last week for the Indianapolis 500, and then Sebastien Bourdais suffered a dramatic crash during qualifying.

Mikhail Aleshin got very close during Monday’s four-hour practice session at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway to becoming the sixth driver to put it in the wall, but somehow was able to hang on and keep his No. 7 Schmidt Peterson Motorsports Honda out of the wall.

Yes, it was Aleshin’s birthday at the time of the near-incident. The Russian driver just turned 30 years old on Monday, and seemingly became much wiser because of it. A younger man - let’s say 29 - probably would’ve crashed.
