Thursday saw the 2015 Dakar Rally field head through its 11th stage of the contest as the competitors made their way from Salta to Termas Rio Honda.

The officials have likely begun etching Nasser Al-Attiyah’s name onto the trophy at the finish line as the Qatar Rally Team driver logged his fifth stage win of the contest, extending his overall lead on Giniel de Villiers to 29 minutes and one second.

Meanwhile, in bikes, Joan Barreda scored yet another stage win, but unfortunately lost any hopes of taking the overall win following a crash earlier in the week. However, his teammate Paulo Goncalves finished second in Thursday’s stage and – in second overall – the Honda rider was able to narrow the gap to Marc Coma to just 5 minutes 12 seconds, who retains the overall lead.
