Dynamo 2, Toronto FC 0

Danny Cruz and Geoff Cameron scored to lead the Houston Dynamo

to a 2-0 win over Toronto FC on Saturday night.

Houston extended its unbeaten streak to three games but won its

first game since a victory over Chivas USA on June 11. Toronto FC

(3-9-9) lost its second straight and fourth in its last five

games.

Cruz gave Houston (5-6-8) a 1-0 lead in the 50th minute. Taking

a give-and-go from Brian Ching at midfield, Cruz dribbled into the

right box on a breakaway and fired a shot from 8 yards out that

went off the leg of goalie Stefan Frei and inside the far post.

Houston had two chances to add a goal in the 80th minute with

Will Bruin taking a breakaway from midfield to the box, but Frei

made a sliding save on his shot from 16 yards out in the center.

Frei then knocked Colin Clark’s rebound attempt over the bar.

Off the ensuing corner kick, however, Bruin had his pass in the

box deflect off Ty Harden’s arm and to Cameron, who sent a blast

into the center net from 8 yards out to make it 2-0 in the 81st

minute.

Tally Hall had his second straight shutout for Houston, but

Toronto didn’t have a shot on goal, while the Dynamo had six.
