Myers is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Phillies.
The July 30 trade that sent Franmil Myers to the Indians temporarily reopened an everyday role for Myers, but the veteran has since lost out on work to rookie Josh Naylor. The Padres will deploy Naylor in left field and as their No. 2 hitter in Sunday's series finale while Myers hits the bench for the fourth time in four games.
Myers is not in Sunday's lineup against the Rockies.
He is hitting .303 with one home run, one steal and a 10:1 K:BB in 33 at-bats since the trade deadline. Josh Naylor will start in left field and hit second.
Myers came on as a pinch hitter and hit a solo home run in a win over the Rockies on Saturday.
Myers was out of the starting lineup with a right-hander on the mound but delivered an insurance run with a solo shot to left field against southpaw Jake McGee in the eighth inning. While Myers is hitting .230 against both righties and lefties this year, his slugging percentage is nearly 100 points higher against southpaws.
Myers is out of the starting lineup Saturday against the Rockies.
Josh Naylor will start in left field and bat second against right-hander Chi Chi Gonzalez. Myers is 9-for-30 with five RBI and two runs scored in eight August starts. The 28-year-old is slashing just .230/.308/.393 in 287 plate appearances against righties.
