Video Details

Carlos Beltran tells Ken Rosenthal about the joy of finally winning a World Series.

- Your first World Series title-- is it what you thought it would be?

- Honestly, it is. It only took me 20 years to get to this position. But, you know what? I'm happy. I'm blessed. And I want to give the glory and honor to God for this moment.

INTERVIEWER: It wasn't a typical Carlos Beltran postseason. You didn't play as much.

- Yeah.

INTERVIEWER: But what was that like for you to experience this team coming of age?

- Well, honestly, it was fun to watch this young group of guys being able to go out there and play the game the way they did. We had a lot of passion for the game. This group of guys, they prepared well every single day, day in and day out. They're good players, you know.

And what really impressed me the most is when I look at the infield, there's Bregman, Correa, Altuve, Gurriel Springer-- they just not only want to be good players, they want to be great ballplayers. And for me, being a veteran guy and being able to be in this league for such a long time, I just wanted to contribute to their career. And, you know, I always tried to bring them information that they could use.

INTERVIEWER: What are your emotions right now knowing everything that's going on back home in Puerto Rico and winning this World Series?

- You know what, honestly, I want to dedicate it also to Puerto Rico because-- and also the city of Houston. You know, being able to bring joy to the city of Houston, being able to bring joy to our country and Puerto Rico-- my family,

INTERVIEWER: Carlos, last question-- what's next for you?

- Oh, my God. You know, my decision won't be difficult at all after winning this ring. I will be maybe playing one more year or staying home. But at the end of the day, I want to stay in the game. I feel like I have to-- I have a lot to contribute to the game of baseball, and I'm passionate about the game of baseball. So I want to be around.

- Congratulations, Carlos.

- Thank you. Thank you.
