Impact Hearn allowed a solo home run to Yordan Alvarez in the fifth inning. He surrendered two additional extra-base hits later in the inning, leading to a second run for the Astros. However, he allowed just two baserunners to reach safely excluding the fifth frame. The 26-year-old hasn't gone deeper than five innings before Sunday. On the season, he has a 3.96 ERA and 1.29 WHIP with 77 strikeouts in 77.1 innings.

Earns third win Hearn (3-4) allowed three earned runs on five hits and two walks while striking out six across five innings to earn the win Tuesday against Cleveland.
Impact Hearn surrendered a pair of home runs, though the damage was limited because both were solo shots. He was fairly impressive otherwise, as he allowed no additional extra-base hits and also racked up 14 called strikes and 10 swinging strikes on just 88 pitches. Hearn continues to build up his workload, as he's now completed five innings in each of his last two starts. As a starter, Hearn has a 5.71 ERA with a 16:7 K:BB across 17.1 innings on the season.

Stays in rotation Hearn is scheduled to make his next start Tuesday against Cleveland at Globe Life Field.
Impact Hearn will be awarded a second turn through the rotation after he held the Mariners to two earned runs over five innings Aug. 17 in his fifth career MLB start. He gets a favorable draw against a Cleveland offense that ranks 20th in the majors with a collective 98 wRC+ since the All-Star break.

Pitches five innings in loss Hearn (2-4) allowed two earned runs on five hits while striking out two across five innings, taking the loss to the Mariners on Tuesday.
Impact Hearn surrendered a single run in the third and fifth frames which was enough to lose the game. The 26-year-old continues to receive a lack of run support; however, he has a 1.82 ERA and 0.91 WHIP in 29.2 innings since June 30. On the season, he carries a 3.97 ERA and 1.32 WHIP with 65 punchouts in 65.2 innings. He may get to start in the rotation regularly if he can keep his recent numbers up.

Getting starting chance Hearn is scheduled to start Tuesday's series opener versus the Mariners, Chris Halicke of SI.com reports.
Impact Hearn has previously made three starts for the Rangers this season, but his most recent appearances have come in long relief of Spencer Howard. Rather than deploying the two in tandem, the Rangers will have both Hearn and Howard start games during the series against Seattle, with Howard taking the hill Thursday. Since Hearn worked four innings behind Howard in both of his past two outings, the former should be decently stretched out for starting duty as he steps back into the rotation. Drew Anderson lingers as a long-relief option if neither Hearn nor Howard are able to work deep into their respective starts this week.

Walks in tying run Hearn allowed one run on two hits, four walks and hit a batter while striking out three over four relief innings in Wednesday's 2-1 loss to Seattle.
Impact In what was largely a positive outing for Hearn, the left-hander allowed the tying run to score in the sixth inning before finishing up with a 1-2-3 seventh. Hearn pitched in relief of starter Spencer Howard, whose innings have been capped since arriving from the Phillies at the trade deadline. Aside from walking too many batters, Hearn has pitched well in six outings since the All-Star break, posting a 1.96 ERA over 18.1 innings.

Throws longest outing Hearn allowed two unearned runs on three hits and two walks while striking out four over four relief innings in Thursday's 5-0 loss to the Angels.
Impact Hearn was the tandem starter along with game-opener Spencer Howard, who lasted 2.1 innings before he was pulled. This was the longest outing of the season for Hearn, who the Rangers are stretching out to become a normal five-plus inning starter.

No-decision in short outing Hearn didn't factor into the decision in Saturday's 5-4 extra-inning win over the Mariners, giving up two unearned runs on three hits and a walk over 3.2 innings. He struck out thr...
Impact The 26-year-old still isn't fully stretched out and got the hook after 52 pitches (34 strikes), but after Kyle Seager took him deep in the first inning for a two-run blast, Hearn settled down and gave the Rangers a chance to rally. The lefty wraps up July with a 0.57 ERA, 0.64 WHIP and 13:5 K:BB through 15.2 innings over eight appearances, and he should remain in the rotation as long as he remains effective.

Awarded another start Hearn is scheduled to start Saturday's game against the Mariners.
Impact After working out of the bullpen nearly all season, Hearn was called upon to make his second start of the campaign last weekend in Houston. The lefty faced a strict pitch count, but he dominated during his three innings on the mound, allowing no hits and issuing one walk while striking out three. With Texas dealing away All-Star Kyle Gibson to Philadelphia ahead of Friday's trade deadline, Hearn should fill a permanent spot in the Rangers' rotation.

Fires three no-hit innings Hearn pitched three hitless innings, allowing one walk while striking out three in the loss to the Astros on Sunday. He did not factor into the decision.
Impact Hearn received his second start of the season Sunday, despite primarily being a bulk-inning reliever. Although he was pulled after three innings, he didn't allow any hits and only one batter reached base safely via a walk. The 26-year-old has a 5.40 ERA and a 1.64 WHIP in 38.1 innings. However, he has allowed only one run on three hits over his last 13 innings.
