White Sox OF Viciedo won’t need surgery on thumb

Chicago White Sox outfielder Dayan Viciedo will miss up to four

weeks to recover from a fractured right thumb.

X-rays taken Friday confirmed the injury but he will not need

surgery. He was hit by a pitch during a 7-6 victory over the Texas

Rangers on Thursday, breaking the bone just below the nail.

Viciedo said he’s still in pain and can’t resume baseball

activities for two weeks. The Cuban-born Viciedo is 10 for 23 this
