The Miami Marlins got a lesson in determination on Wednesday, thanks to a pair of motivational speakers who crushed the presentation with an assist from Don Mattingly.

The Fish witnessed the 'Radical Reality' team use a sledgehammer to smash a cinder block over the chest of their manager inside the clubhouse:

Mattingly participated in the stunt as part of a team-building exercise that also had Marlins first baseman Justin Bour break a baseball bat in half with his bare hands.

"It's good for the guys," Mattingly said of the motivational activities performed by the motivational speakers from Northern California (via MLB.com's Joe Frisaro). "I've seen some of them before, but when he rips up a phone book, it's pretty serious," Mattingly said. "I can barely rip three pieces of paper."

The team certainly appeared to have fun with the presentation, and it just might have given the players an extra pep in their step, as they went on to beat the Mets 6-2 in a spring training game later that day.
