Danny Espinosa celebrates his 7-RBI night by slapping Jayson Werth’s face
Last fall, the Washington Nationals had to deal with Jonathan Papelbon choking Bryce Harper. This summer, it’s Danny Espinosa slapping Jayson Werth — in a much more playful manner.
Espinosa drove in seven runs in the Nationals’ 13-4 win over the Cincinnati Reds on Thursday, thanks to a grand slam and a three-run homer.
And he debuted a rather odd handshake ritual with Werth afterward:

Hey, whatever works. And something obviously is working for the Nationals, who have a six-game lead in the NL East.
We’re just anxious to see whether Werth seeks out Espinosa the next time he homers.
