Blue Jays manager downplays scoreboard watching

Ahh September. It's that time of year where every game seems big, every game has playoff implications.

Fans of teams in the hunt are all guilty of scoreboard watching, seeing if their competitors lost to gain a game in the standings.

Apparently, the Toronto Blue Jays are guilty of peeking as well.

“I glance up there,” manager John Gibbons admitted before Sunday's game via the Toronto Sun. “I do it early in the year anyway, kind of a habit type thing. I think most guys glance up there.”

It's tough not to at least glance, especially considering the way the Jays have stormed to the top of the AL East.

Heading into Sunday's games, the Jays led the New York Yankees by 2 1/2 games.

Their magic number to clinch the division is 12.
