Tigers’ Damon gets 2500th hit
Johnny Damon became the 92nd major league player to reach 2,500
hits with a third-inning single Tuesday night.
The Detroit Tigers outfielder singled to center field off
Baltimore Orioles starter Jake Arrieta, drawing a lengthy standing
ovation from the Comerica Park crowd.
Damon is one of four active players with 2,500 hits, 1,500 runs
and 1,000 RBIs, joining three former teammates: Manny Ramirez, Alex
Rodriguez and Derek Jeter.
