Sources: Rockies in talks to get Betancourt

The Rockies are involved in serious discussions about Indians reliever Rafael Betancourt, according to major-league sources.

If the teams are able to swing a deal, Betancourt will help fill a setup role in Colorado. The Rockies also plan to promote Class AA right-hander Jhoulys Chacin, possibly as a reliever, sources say.

Chacin, 21, is 8-6 with a 3.14 ERA at Class AA. He is the Rockies’ No.

2 prospect according to Baseball America’s preseason rankings.

Reliever Manuel Corpas will undergo surgery Friday to remove bone chips from his right elbow and could be lost for the season, according to the Denver Post.
