Royals OF Cabrera leaves game with ankle injury

Royals outfielder Melky Cabrera has left Saturday night’s game

against the Detroit Tigers with a sore left ankle.

Cabrera made a long run from center field to chase down a

flyball to the warning track hit by Austin Jackson in the fourth

inning. Right fielder Jeff Francoeur made the catch just before the

wall.

Cabrera played out the rest of the half inning before being

removed for pinch hitter Mitch Maier in the bottom half of the

fourth. Maier remained in the game to play center field.

The injury is to the same ankle Cabrera hurt earlier this week

on a pickoff play at first base. The Royals said he’s day to

day.
