Report: Blue Jays strongly interested in Brewers’ Mike Fiers

Rumors have been swirling for quite some time that the Toronto Blue Jays are looking for a starting pitcher to add to their rotation.

Could that guy be Mike Fiers of the Milwaukee Brewers?

FOX Sports insider Ken Rosenthal reported Monday that the Jays were showing "strong interest" in the righty:

Fiers isn't a top-tier name like Cole Hamels or Johnny Cueto, but is solid and, maybe more importantly, cheap.

In 19 starts this season with the Brewers, the 30-year-old owns a 5-7 record and 3.79 ERA. However, it's his contract (or lack thereof) that could make him most appealing to the Jays:

Since he was called up when he was 26, he remains in club control for his "prime" years.
