Phillies to place P Billingsley on disabled list; could be done for year
Chad Billingsley could be done for the season, as the Phillies starter is headed to the 15-day disabled list, according to Philly.com.
Billingsley left Saturday’s start after five shutout innings due to shoulder discomfort and underwent tests Monday morning.
While the team is awaiting the results of an MRI, general manager Ruben Amaro Jr. said Billingsley could have a nerve issue in his flexor tendon and that "it could be" a season-ending injury.
Billingsley, who has had a history of arm injuries, had surgery in June 2014 to repair the flexor tendon. He underwent Tommy John surgery in 2013.
This marks the 30-year-old’s third stint on the disabled list this season.
The right-hander is 2-3 with an ERA of 5.84, 15 strikeouts and eight walks in seven starts for the Phillies this season.
