Another week has passed, the calendar has turned to June and the Matt Kemp home run drought continues. Through Sunday, Kemp has gone a career worst 169 plate appearances without a homer. He’s also yet to treat the home fans to a long ball as his sole homer this year was hit at Wrigley Field in Chicago.
Per U-T San Diego, Bud Black maintained that Kemp would find his stroke saying, "I still think Matt Kemp is going to become Matt Kemp.”
May has traditionally been Kemp’s worst offensive month, by far. In his career he’s only hit 16 home runs in May compared to at least 30 in each of the other months of the season. Last season he only hit one homer in the second month of the season before perking up to finish with 25 by the end of the year.
