Nationals place Wieters on DL with oblique injury

ATLANTA (AP) The Washington Nationals have placed catcher Matt Wieters on the 10-day disabled list with a mild left oblique strain.

Catcher Pedro Severino has been recalled from Triple-A Syracuse and is listed as the starter in Monday night's game at Atlanta.

Wieters was 1 for 7 in two games before he was held out of Sunday's game against the Reds.

Miguel Montero opened the season as Wieters' top backup and is expected to see most of the starts until Wieters returns.
