Murphy homers in 6th straight game for postseason record
CHICAGO (AP) Daniel Murphy slammed his way into baseball’s postseason record book with a two-run shot in the eighth inning Wednesday night against the Cubs – the sixth straight game the Mets second baseman has gone deep.
Murphy’s shot off Cubs reliever Fernando Rodney put the Mets ahead 8-1. Cubs rookie Kris Bryant got both of them back with a homer of his own in the bottom of the inning.
Carlos Beltran was the only other player to have homered in five straight games. Murphy now has seven for the postseason and has hit them off an All-Star rotation of starting pitchers – Clayton Kershaw and Zach Greinke of the Dodgers; Jon Lester and Jake Arrieta of the Cubs.
