Generous Miggy pays back kid who had his back on foul ball

For most, leaving the ballpark with a foul ball caught during the game would be a dream come true. But for one charismatic kid in Cleveland, the ball was just the beginning.

He found in a very good way, Miguel Cabrera likes a little showmanship to go with a nice play.

The kid, identified by MLB.com as Dominic, snagged a Jason Kipnis foul ball during the fifth inning of Tuesday night’s Indians-Tigers game at Progressive Feld, a nice play for which Dominic was rightfully pumped.

But Cabrera saw the play, and the kid’s enthusiasm, and gave him a nod. Dominic’s response seemed to be an emphatic “I got your back, Miggy.”

He may be on the road, but Cabrera is grateful for a jacked up kid looking out for him in any city. So between innings, the two-time AL MVP rewarded Dominic with a bat and batting gloves. You can see that heartwarming moment in the video at the top of the page.

Here’s how it all went down on live TV.

And here is Dominic after the exchange. (NOTE: If you cannot see the video below, you can see it here.)

For the record, the Tigers won the game 7-3, Cabrera going 2 for 5 with a run scored. Regardless of score, gotta imagine Dominic went home a pretty happy guy.
