Mets’ Lagares injured against Arizona
PHOENIX (AP) New York Mets center fielder Juan Lagares left Monday night’s game against Arizona with a pulled right hamstring after running out a groundball in the seventh inning.
Lagares was injured with two outs in the inning while beating out a relay throw for a fielder’s choice. He tried to stay in the game, but called for the trainer and was replaced by pinch-runner Ike Davis.
Lagares entered as New York’s best hitter at .319, with a homer and seven RBIs. He extended his hitting streak to nine games on a double in the second inning.
Right fielder Curtis Granderson bruised his left forearm and ribs when he ran into the fence in the sixth. He stayed in the game until being replaced by Andrew Brown in the seventh.
