Dodgers reportedly will call up prized prospect Seager

The Los Angeles Dodgers plan to promote top prospect Corey Seager to their major-league roster prior to Thursday’s game at San Diego, as first reported by CBSSports.com on Thursday.

Seager, 21, was the 18th overall pick in 2012.

In 124 games between Double-A and Triple-A this season, Seager is hitting .292/.343/.486 with 18 homers, 36 doubles and 74 RBI.

Seager has primarily played shortstop but also has spent some time at third base in the minors.

After sweeping the second-place San Francisco Giants this week, the Dodgers lead the NL West by 6½ games.
