Recap of Wednesday’s live chat with Rob Neyer

The Royals moved into first place of the AL Central on Monday night.

The Kansas City Royals moved into first place of the AL Central on Monday night, and despite losing at home to Oakland on Tuesday, they’re still atop the division thanks to Detroit’s loss at Pittsburgh.

The Royals in first is sort of amazing. Why? Because it’s August, for one. Also because the Royals didn’t just trade for one of the best pitchers in baseball like the Tigers did.

If the Royals make the playoffs this fall, it will be their first postseason appearance in 29 years — when they won the 1985 World Series in seven games vs. the St. Louis Cardinals. Now we shouldn’t get ahead of ourselves because there’s a lot of baseball games left this season and the playoff picture could look quite different in two weeks. But this is a chat. So, to hell with all that.

You know the drill. Read Rob’s latest on the what happened to the Cardinals’ offense, the Expos terrible final draft classes, and how to solve a problem like the Rockies. Then pop back here to send in your comments and questions.
