KC, Toronto libraries engage in social media trash-talk regarding ALCS
The ALCS matchup between the Kansas City Royals and Toronto Blue Jays is a big deal to the club’s respective home cities.
Not only did both mayors take part in the traditional pre-series wager, but as the series has progressed local libraries have gotten in on the act.
Yes, libraries – which apparently have social media accounts these days, too.
Using books found on the shelves, these libraries strategically placed them on top of each other to send a message. The Kansas City Public Library kicked off the trash talking with a jab after the Royals’ 14-2 blowout win in Game 4:
Not willing to sit idly by and be put down, the Toronto Public Library returned the volley on Wednesday before Game 5 (which the Jays won, it must be pointed out):
Thanks to Toronto’s season-saving win in Game 5 on Wednesday, the series will include at least one more game on Friday night back at Kauffman Stadium – and, we can only hope, perhaps some more library social media warfare.
